The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.69.35

ज्ञानादवासनीभावं स्वनाशं प्राप्नुयान्मनः ।
प्राणात्स्पदं च नादत्ते ततः शान्तिर्हि शिष्यते ॥ ३५ ॥

jñānādavāsanībhāvaṃ svanāśaṃ prāpnuyānmanaḥ |
prāṇātspadaṃ ca nādatte tataḥ śāntirhi śiṣyate || 35 ||

Knowledge removes the desires, and the disappearance of desires destroys the mind; this produces the suppression of breath, and thence proceeds the tranquillity of the soul.
