The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

कपालमालाभरणो भस्मशाली दिगम्बरः ।
श्मशाननिलयो ब्रह्मन्कामुकश्च किमीश्वरः ॥ ७ ॥

kapālamālābharaṇo bhasmaśālī digambaraḥ |
śmaśānanilayo brahmankāmukaśca kimīśvaraḥ || 7 ||

Rama rejoined:—But tell me Sir, why the Lord Rudra or Siva wore the string of human skulls about his neck, daubed his body with ashes, and stark naked; and why he dwelt in funeral ground, and was libidinous in the greatest degree.
