The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.67.16

चित्सत्तामात्रमासाद्य प्रतीतिच्युतमात्रतः ।
जरामरणदुःखानां क्वचिद्भाजनतां गतः ॥ १६ ॥

citsattāmātramāsādya pratīticyutamātrataḥ |
jarāmaraṇaduḥkhānāṃ kvacidbhājanatāṃ gataḥ || 16 ||

The animal soul, though possessed of intellego (or the property of the intellect); is yet liable to transgress from its original nature (of holiness and purity);and thereby becomes subject to decay, disease and death and all kinds of awe.
