The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

पर्वताग्रपरिभ्रष्टो ह्यधोध उपलो यथा ।
परमात्मपरिभ्रष्टो जीवः स्वप्नमिमं दृढम् ॥ ६ ॥

parvatāgraparibhraṣṭo hyadhodha upalo yathā |
paramātmaparibhraṣṭo jīvaḥ svapnamimaṃ dṛḍham || 6 ||

As a stone falling from a rock, falls lower and lower to the nether ground; so the living soul once fallen from its height of supreme spirit, descends lower and lower to the lowest pit.
