The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

तेन चित्तनरेणाथ कृतं नामात्मवाञ्छया ।
जीवटोऽस्मीति सहसा काकतालीयवत्स्थितम् ॥ ७ ॥

tena cittanareṇātha kṛtaṃ nāmātmavāñchayā |
jīvaṭo'smīti sahasā kākatālīyavatsthitam || 7 ||

Then he thought in himself to become an ideal man of his own accord, and became in an instant the imagined person Jivata by name.
