The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.59.36

क्वापि याति च संशान्तदीपवत्साभिधानकः ।
चितः प्रशान्तरूपाया दीपिकायाः स्वभावतः ॥ ३६ ॥

kvāpi yāti ca saṃśāntadīpavatsābhidhānakaḥ |
citaḥ praśāntarūpāyā dīpikāyāḥ svabhāvataḥ || 36 ||

But no sooner doth the light of the tranquil intellect, appear in its brightness within the inward soul; than the flattering of the fickle spirit is put to flight, like the flickering of a lamp after it is extinguished.
