The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

श्रीभगवानुवाच ।
स्वयं कल्पितसंकल्पमात्मरूपं यदाविलम् ।
तदेव वासनाकारं जीवं विद्धि महामते ॥ ४१ ॥

śrībhagavānuvāca |
svayaṃ kalpitasaṃkalpamātmarūpaṃ yadāvilam |
tadeva vāsanākāraṃ jīvaṃ viddhi mahāmate || 41 ||

The lord replied:—Know the wistful soul, O intelligent Arjuna! to be of the form of the desire of the heart, as also of the form that anyone has framed for himself in his imagination.
