The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.51.55

यदा सुषुप्तभावस्थो भाविदुःस्वप्नवेधितः ।
तदा कालानलसमस्तिष्ठत्यनुदिताकृतिः ॥ ५५ ॥

yadā suṣuptabhāvastho bhāviduḥsvapnavedhitaḥ |
tadā kālānalasamastiṣṭhatyanuditākṛtiḥ || 55 ||

When the sleeping soul does not rise of itself (by its intellectual knowledge), but is raised from the torpor of its sleep by some ominous dream, it then wakes to the fire of a conflagration from its misery only.
