The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

इत्यनुक्रमतो याता संविच्छक्तिस्वरूपताम् ।
मज्जा प्राक् संनिवेशं स्वं तमेवाप्य समुज्झती ॥ १९ ॥

ityanukramato yātā saṃvicchaktisvarūpatām |
majjā prāk saṃniveśaṃ svaṃ tamevāpya samujjhatī || 19 ||

In this manner there grew the power of consciousness in its proper form, and yet the essence of the soul retains its former state without exhausting itself.
