The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.44.17

प्राणोन्मेषनिमेषाभ्यां संसृतेः प्रलयोदयौ ।
तमभ्यासप्रयोगाभ्यामुन्मेषरहितं कुरु ॥ १७ ॥

prāṇonmeṣanimeṣābhyāṃ saṃsṛteḥ pralayodayau |
tamabhyāsaprayogābhyāmunmeṣarahitaṃ kuru || 17 ||

So it is the breath of life, which conducts and stops the business of the world, by its respiration and rest; restrain therefore the breathing of the vital air, by thy practice of the regulation of thy breathing.
