The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

जानास्येव गतिं चित्रां विषयाणां प्रमाथिनीम् ।
यथायान्ति यथा यान्ति यथा परिभवन्ति च ॥ १२ ॥

jānāsyeva gatiṃ citrāṃ viṣayāṇāṃ pramāthinīm |
yathāyānti yathā yānti yathā paribhavanti ca || 12 ||

You well know, Rama! the precarious state of worldly possessions and their pernicious effects also; they come and go away of their own accord, but overpower on the man in both states.
