The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.41.14

क्रमे गुरूपदेशानां प्रवृत्ते शिष्यबोधतः ।
अनिर्देश्योऽप्यदृश्योऽपि स्वयमात्मा प्रसीदति ॥ १४ ॥

krame gurūpadeśānāṃ pravṛtte śiṣyabodhataḥ |
anirdeśyo'pyadṛśyo'pi svayamātmā prasīdati || 14 ||

A course of lectures is of course calculated, to throw light on the student's knowledge of the knowables; but in matters of abstract knowledge and invisible soul, it is the soul itself that must throw its own light.
