The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

पावनं पावनानां यद्यत्सर्वतमसां क्षयः ।
तदिदानीं प्रवक्ष्येऽहमन्तःपूजनमात्मनः ॥ १ ॥

īśvara uvāca |
pāvanaṃ pāvanānāṃ yadyatsarvatamasāṃ kṣayaḥ |
tadidānīṃ pravakṣye'hamantaḥpūjanamātmanaḥ || 1 ||

The god resumed:—I will now relate to you, the form of the inward worship of the spirit in spirit;which is reckoned as the holy of holies, and dispeller of all darkness.
