The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

उपजीव्यात्मनो रूपं परं स्फुरति वृत्तिषु ।
आलोकमुपजीव्येमं रूपश्रीर्दृश्यगा यथा ॥ १६ ॥

upajīvyātmano rūpaṃ paraṃ sphurati vṛttiṣu |
ālokamupajīvyemaṃ rūpaśrīrdṛśyagā yathā || 16 ||

As all things depend upon light, to show their different forms and colours to view, so the mental powers and faculties, do all of them depend upon the intellectual soul for their several actions.
