The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

स्वायत्त एव चैषोऽर्थो दुःसाध्यो भावनास्थितः ।
यद्यन्न साध्यते पुंसा तत्कथं क्वेव लभ्यते ॥ १५ ॥

svāyatta eva caiṣo'rtho duḥsādhyo bhāvanāsthitaḥ |
yadyanna sādhyate puṃsā tatkathaṃ kveva labhyate || 15 ||

It is in the power of every body to get rid of his thoughts, but very difficult to get the object of his thought; How then is it possible for one to have, what it is impracticable for him to try for?
