Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.31.4

चित्तं हि कारणं त्वस्याः संसारानुभवे चितेः ।
न च तत्कारणं किंचिच्चित्त्वान्यत्वात्यसंभवात् ॥ ४ ॥

cittaṃ hi kāraṇaṃ tvasyāḥ saṃsārānubhave citeḥ |
na ca tatkāraṇaṃ kiṃciccittvānyatvātyasaṃbhavāt || 4 ||

The mind alone is said to be the cause of the perception of the exterior world in the intellect; but the mind can be no such cause of it, from the impossibility of its separate existence independent of the intellect.
