The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.31.2

अमृतापि मृतास्मीति विपर्यस्तमतिर्वधूः ।
यथा रोदित्यनष्टैव नष्टास्मीति तथैव चित् ॥ २ ॥

amṛtāpi mṛtāsmīti viparyastamatirvadhūḥ |
yathā rodityanaṣṭaiva naṣṭāsmīti tathaiva cit || 2 ||

Though immortal yet it is deceived to believe itself as mortal, by its infatuated understanding; as a sick man weeps to think himself dead when he is still alive.
