Yoga Vasistha [sanskrit]

223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.30.6

शमबोधाद्यभावे हि पुष्पाद्यैर्वार्चयन्ति हि ।
मिथ्यैव कल्पितैरेवमाकारे कल्पितात्मके ॥ ६ ॥

śamabodhādyabhāve hi puṣpādyairvārcayanti hi |
mithyaiva kalpitairevamākāre kalpitātmake || 6 ||

These being devoid of the quietness of their understandings, are led to ceremonious observances, and to the false attribution of a soul, to the images of their own making.
