The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

चित्तयक्षाभिभूतानां याः पुंसां विततापदः ।
शक्यन्ते परिसंख्यातुं न ता वर्षशतैरपि ॥ ५६ ॥

cittayakṣābhibhūtānāṃ yāḥ puṃsāṃ vitatāpadaḥ |
śakyante parisaṃkhyātuṃ na tā varṣaśatairapi || 56 ||

Egoism brings a great many evils, upon them that have their minds vitiated by its influence, and it requires hundreds of years, to count and recount their baneful effects.
