The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.29.14

अपि चित्रनराद्देहनरस्तुच्छतरः स्मृतः ।
आधिव्याधिपरिम्लाने स्वयं क्लेदिनि नाशिनि ॥ १४ ॥

api citranarāddehanarastucchataraḥ smṛtaḥ |
ādhivyādhiparimlāne svayaṃ kledini nāśini || 14 ||

The wise man must not understand the pain or pleasure of the soul from the physiognomy of man, that a sorrowful and weeping countenance is the indication of pain; and a clear (cheerful) and tearless face is the sign of pleasure.
