The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

इत्यात्ममरणप्राप्तौ किं मुधा परितप्यसे ।
अवश्यमेव जातेन किंचित्सुविभवादिकम् ॥ ५५ ॥

ityātmamaraṇaprāptau kiṃ mudhā paritapyase |
avaśyameva jātena kiṃcitsuvibhavādikam || 55 ||

Thus when we are destined to die ourselves also, without having any power in us to prevent the same; why then should we be sorry for others when we can never prevent also.
