Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.28.48

इत्यन्यकलनात्यागः सम्यगालोकनं विदुः ।
मरणं जीवितं स्वर्गो ज्ञानमज्ञानमेव च ॥ ४८ ॥

ityanyakalanātyāgaḥ samyagālokanaṃ viduḥ |
maraṇaṃ jīvitaṃ svargo jñānamajñānameva ca || 48 ||

Thus the abandonment of all other thoughts, besides that of the universal soul or Brahma, is called the true discernment of the mind;which derives the thoughts of life and death, heaven and hell into nothing, and proves all knowledge to be ignorance alone.
