The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.25.50

अपानजन्मभूमौ च प्राणं नष्टमवेहि हि ।
अस्तंगतवति प्राणे त्वपानेऽभ्युदयोन्मुखे ॥ ५० ॥

apānajanmabhūmau ca prāṇaṃ naṣṭamavehi hi |
astaṃgatavati prāṇe tvapāne'bhyudayonmukhe || 50 ||

When the prana breathing has ceased and the apana has its rise, it is then that one supports himself upon the Kumbhaka retained air, and does not depend on two other passing breaths.
