The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

इत्यष्टैश्वर्ययुक्तास्ता मातरो रौद्रचेष्टिताः ।
कदाचिन्मिलिता व्योम्नि सर्वाः केनापि हेतुना ॥ २४ ॥

ityaṣṭaiśvaryayuktāstā mātaro raudraceṣṭitāḥ |
kadācinmilitā vyomni sarvāḥ kenāpi hetunā || 24 ||

This octad of Matri Goddess were once assembled together, and bent their course in the ethereal firmament on some of their malevolent purposes.
