The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.9.8

नवधैवं विभक्तेयमविद्या गुणभेदतः ।
यावत्किंचिदिदं दृश्यमनयैव तदाश्रितम् ॥ ८ ॥

navadhaivaṃ vibhakteyamavidyā guṇabhedataḥ |
yāvatkiṃcididaṃ dṛśyamanayaiva tadāśritam || 8 ||

Thus the original Ignorance ([Sanskrit: avidya]), becomes of nine kinds by difference of its several qualities;and whatever is seen or known here below, is included under one or of the various kinds.
