The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.7.10

समुपैति मतिर्दुःखं सुखं च शतशाखताम् ।
दुःखशाखास्तु जायन्ते नानाकर्मफलाः श्रियः ॥ १० ॥

samupaiti matirduḥkhaṃ sukhaṃ ca śataśākhatām |
duḥkhaśākhāstu jāyante nānākarmaphalāḥ śriyaḥ || 10 ||

The minds of the ignorant, are subject to many pains and pleasures in this life; and the forest of their misdeeds, shoots forth in a thousand branches, bearing the woeful fruits of misery only.
