The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.6.32

तेन सार्धं कथा यत्तत्कौलेयाह्वानमम्बरे ।
अज्ञानमापदां निष्ठा का हि नापदजानतः ॥ ३२ ॥

tena sārdhaṃ kathā yattatkauleyāhvānamambare |
ajñānamāpadāṃ niṣṭhā kā hi nāpadajānataḥ || 32 ||

Talking with the ignorant, is as calling the dogs from a distance (which is neither heard nor heeded by them). Ignorance is the seat of evils, which never betide the sensible and the wise.
