The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.1.17

तेन तत्तारमप्याशु वचोऽन्तर्धानमाययौ ।
मौनं जलदनादेन मायूर इव निस्वनः ॥ १७ ॥

tena tattāramapyāśu vaco'ntardhānamāyayau |
maunaṃ jaladanādena māyūra iva nisvanaḥ || 17 ||

The high-sounding speech of the sage, was drowned under the loud peal of the jarring instruments;as the sonorous sound of the peacock, is hushed under the uproar of roaring clouds.
