The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

तामसङ्गाभिधां विद्धि यावद्देहं च भाविनी ।
तया यत्क्रियते कर्म न तद्बन्धाय वै पुनः ॥ १ ॥

tāmasaṅgābhidhāṃ viddhi yāvaddehaṃ ca bhāvinī |
tayā yatkriyate karma na tadbandhāya vai punaḥ || 1 ||

Vasishtha continued:—Rama! He who is possessed of little reason, and tries to subdue his mind as well as he can; succeeds to reap the fruit (object) of his life.
