The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अन्धकारहरेणाशु विचारेण परं पदम् ।
दृश्यते विमलं वस्तु प्रदीपेनेव भास्वता ॥ १७ ॥

andhakārahareṇāśu vicāreṇa paraṃ padam |
dṛśyate vimalaṃ vastu pradīpeneva bhāsvatā || 17 ||

Reason displays the darkness of ignorance, and shows the state of the Supreme as clearly, as when the light of the lamp shows everything clearly in the room.
