The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अज्ञानमूलं सुदृढं लीनेन्द्रियविहंगमम् ।
वासना क्षयमानीता चित्तवृक्षं क्षणेन हि ॥ ५९ ॥

ajñānamūlaṃ sudṛḍhaṃ līnendriyavihaṃgamam |
vāsanā kṣayamānītā cittavṛkṣaṃ kṣaṇena hi || 59 ||

It is beset by our erroneous senses, resembling the ignorant birds setting upon it; and our desires are the cankers, that are continually corroding our breasts and minds.
