The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

प्राक्तनं गुणसंभारं ममेति बहु मन्यते ।
यत्तु चित्तमतत्त्वज्ञं दुःखितं जीव उच्यते ॥ ७ ॥

prāktanaṃ guṇasaṃbhāraṃ mameti bahu manyate |
yattu cittamatattvajñaṃ duḥkhitaṃ jīva ucyate || 7 ||

He is reckoned as a miserable being, who thinks much of his person, and esteems his body, as the product of the good deserts of his past lives; and who accounts his foolish and blinded mind as a great gift to him.
