223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.82.68

त्वादृशस्य तु दृष्ट्यैव क्षुब्धता जयते मुधा ।
आलोक्य राजमहिषीं यूनो मदमयीं तथा ॥ ६८ ॥

tvādṛśasya tu dṛṣṭyaiva kṣubdhatā jayate mudhā |
ālokya rājamahiṣīṃ yūno madamayīṃ tathā || 68 ||

All this is the magnificence of God, and yet the foolish mind craves after them in vain; as a miserable man longs to have the princely pomp of another, which is displayed before him.
