The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अविचारिणमज्ञानं मूढमाशापरायणम् ।
निगिरन्तीह दुःखानि बका मत्स्यमिवाजलम् ॥ १८ ॥

avicāriṇamajñānaṃ mūḍhamāśāparāyaṇam |
nigirantīha duḥkhāni bakā matsyamivājalam || 18 ||

The ignorant, unreasonable and stupid men, that are guided by their desires only; are preyed upon by continued misery, as the fishes of a dried tank are devoured mercilessly by cranes.
