The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

भूतपञ्चकविक्षोभनाशोत्पादेषु हे जनाः ।
हर्षामर्षविषादानां किं भवन्तो वशं गताः ॥ १० ॥

bhūtapañcakavikṣobhanāśotpādeṣu he janāḥ |
harṣāmarṣaviṣādānāṃ kiṃ bhavanto vaśaṃ gatāḥ || 10 ||

Why therefore, O Rama! should you rejoice or regret at anything, seeing that the quintuple elements are wont to have their own course, in joining and disjoining themselves, in the formation and dissolution of bodies?
