The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

शब्दः कचटतप्रायः स्फुरत्यन्तः समीरणैः ।
यथा प्रजायते वंशाद्देहरन्ध्रात्तथैव हि ॥ ३४ ॥

śabdaḥ kacaṭataprāyaḥ sphuratyantaḥ samīraṇaiḥ |
yathā prajāyate vaṃśāddeharandhrāttathaiva hi || 34 ||

The human body utters its articulate sounds, combined with the letters of the alphabet; and by means of its internal breathings. Its mechanism is the same as that of sounding bambu pipe.
