The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

चिदात्मा निर्मलो नित्यः स्वावभासो निरामयः ।
देहस्त्वनित्यो मलवांस्तेन संबध्यते कथम् ॥ २४ ॥

cidātmā nirmalo nityaḥ svāvabhāso nirāmayaḥ |
dehastvanityo malavāṃstena saṃbadhyate katham || 24 ||

The intellectual soul is immortal and undecaying, and perfectly pure and shining by itself; while the body is perishable and impure, and cannot therefore be related with the spirit.
