The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.71.2

अत ऊर्ध्वमदेहानां मुक्तानां वचसा तथा ।
विषयो न महाबाहो पुरुषाणामिवाम्बरम् ॥ २ ॥

ata ūrdhvamadehānāṃ muktānāṃ vacasā tathā |
viṣayo na mahābāho puruṣāṇāmivāmbaram || 2 ||

Rising above this to the turyality or hyperquartan state, in which one sees nothing but an inane vacuity. This is the state of disembodied spirits, that are lost in infinity, and of whom the sastras can say nothing (i.e. the embodied or living soul has knowledge of its personality, up to the fourth stage of its elevation; but the disembodied or departed soul, that is liberated after death, and becomes.
