Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.70.9

आत्मारामतया जीवो यात्यसंसङ्गतामिह ।
आत्मज्ञानेन संसङ्गस्तनुतामेति नान्यथा ॥ ९ ॥

ātmārāmatayā jīvo yātyasaṃsaṅgatāmiha |
ātmajñānena saṃsaṅgastanutāmeti nānyathā || 9 ||

It is by means of Spiritual communion and internal rapture, that the mind loses its attachments; and it is only by knowledge of the soul and in no other way, that our worldly associations wear out of themselves.
