The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.69.10

अकुर्वन्नपि कुर्वाणो जीवः स्वात्मरतिः क्रियाः ।
क्रियाफलैर्न संबन्धमायाति खमिवाम्बुदैः ॥ १० ॥

akurvannapi kurvāṇo jīvaḥ svātmaratiḥ kriyāḥ |
kriyāphalairna saṃbandhamāyāti khamivāmbudaiḥ || 10 ||

The living being that is attached to the thought of itself, is said to be doing and acting though it refrains from doing anything;and it is then as free from the consequence of acts, as the sky is free from the shade of the clouds that hang below it.
