223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.68.23

आत्मतत्त्वावबोधेन सत्यभूतविवेकजा ।
वन्द्या हि कथ्यते सक्तिर्भूयः संसारवर्जिता ॥ २३ ॥

ātmatattvāvabodhena satyabhūtavivekajā |
vandyā hi kathyate saktirbhūyaḥ saṃsāravarjitā || 23 ||

But that tendency, which has its origin in spiritual knowledge, and in true and right discrimination, and b ears no relation to anything that is of this world, but leads to one's future and spiritual welfare, is the truely laudable one.
