223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.68.4

सर्वमात्मेदमखिलं किं वाञ्छामि त्यजामि किम् ।
इत्यसङ्गस्थितिं विद्धि जीवन्मुक्ततनुस्थितिम् ॥ ४ ॥

sarvamātmedamakhilaṃ kiṃ vāñchāmi tyajāmi kim |
ityasaṅgasthitiṃ viddhi jīvanmuktatanusthitim || 4 ||

But the conviction "that this whole-cosmos is the selfsame soul, and therefore we have nothing to choose or reject in it beside the very soul", is termed the unrelated condition of the mind, which is settled in the supreme-self only, and this state is known under the title of living liberation jivanmukti.
