The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अवमानरजोध्वस्तमस्तंगतवपुःश्रियम् ।
मुखं धूसरतामेति हिमैः पद्ममिवाहतम् ॥ २३ ॥

avamānarajodhvastamastaṃgatavapuḥśriyam |
mukhaṃ dhūsaratāmeti himaiḥ padmamivāhatam || 23 ||

The brightness of the body flies away in old age, and the mind dejected at the disregard of every body, becomes as pale and withered, as the lotus flower fades away under the frost.
