The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.62.19

यथा सत्ताविहीनात्मा पदार्थो नोपलभ्यते ।
तथात्मज्ञानहीनात्मा कालो ज्ञस्य न लभ्यते ॥ १९ ॥

yathā sattāvihīnātmā padārtho nopalabhyate |
tathātmajñānahīnātmā kālo jñasya na labhyate || 19 ||

As the lifeless soul has no perception of any external object; so the soul unconscious of itself, has no knowledge of the course of time; as in the state of sleep, delirium and insensibility.
