The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

ततो वर्षसहस्रेण तपसा दारुणात्मना ।
प्रापदभ्यासवशतो ज्ञानमात्मप्रसादजम् ॥ १८ ॥

tato varṣasahasreṇa tapasā dāruṇātmanā |
prāpadabhyāsavaśato jñānamātmaprasādajam || 18 ||

Having thus conducted himself with his most rigid austerities for many years, he attained the divine knowledge by his long practice of self-purification, and by grace of the supreme soul.
