The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

स्वतो यदात्मतो यस्य चिद्द्रवत्वादिवर्तनम् ।
तदावर्ताद्यहंतादिभेदाद्याकारिता इव ॥ ६ ॥

svato yadātmato yasya ciddravatvādivartanam |
tadāvartādyahaṃtādibhedādyākāritā iva || 6 ||

The soul which like the great body of water, presents its fluidity in the form of the intellect; the same assumes the forms of the whirlpools of the ego, and the varieties of non-ego in the world.
