The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

यदात्मलवणस्यान्तश्चित्त्वाल्लवणवेदनम् ।
तदहंतादि भेदादि देशकालादि मत्स्थितम् ॥ २ ॥

yadātmalavaṇasyāntaścittvāllavaṇavedanam |
tadahaṃtādi bhedādi deśakālādi matsthitam || 2 ||

The soul is as the Universal ocean of salt, and the intellect is the saltishness inherent in it; it is this which gives us the knowledge of the ego and non-ego, and appears in the forms of infinite space and time.
