The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.53.29

मरणं जीवितोपान्तं जीवितं मरणान्तगम् ।
भावोऽभावाद्व्यवच्छिन्नः कष्टेयं दुःखवेदना ॥ २९ ॥

maraṇaṃ jīvitopāntaṃ jīvitaṃ maraṇāntagam |
bhāvo'bhāvādvyavacchinnaḥ kaṣṭeyaṃ duḥkhavedanā || 29 ||

Here is death closely following the course of life, and there is a new life hereafter awaiting upon our death; now there is a state of being distinct from its privation or not being, and again there is reverse of it in our transmigration, to our great annoyance only.
