The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

ददात्यनर्थनिचयं विस्तारयति दुष्कृतम् ।
विस्तारयति संतापमहंभावोनुसंहितः ॥ २७ ॥

dadātyanarthanicayaṃ vistārayati duṣkṛtam |
vistārayati saṃtāpamahaṃbhāvonusaṃhitaḥ || 27 ||

Our accompaniment with the idea of egoism is productive only of our misconduct and misery, by producing the great variety of our acts of selfishness.
