The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

वेद तत्त्वां स्वसंवेद्यमाततं दुःखकारणम् ।
विवेकजेन बोधेन तदिदं हन्यसे मया ॥ ३९ ॥
veda tattvāṃ svasaṃvedyamātataṃ duḥkhakāraṇam |
vivekajena bodhena tadidaṃ hanyase mayā || 39 ||
It is unknowable by the light of the Vedas, and its ignorance which is the cause of misery is to be destroyed by the light of reason.
